2025 | Sean
Seventeen-year-old Sean, a student at Coahoma High School and a valued member of his church’s youth group and basketball team, embodies strength and courage in the face of an immense challenge. Sean is living with Mucha-Habermann disease, a rare and painful skin condition where he can experience flare-ups that require medical attention that can last months at a time. Despite the daily physical discomfort and the uncertainty of his condition, he approaches life with remarkable resilience. He is a testament to the power of the human spirit, navigating his teenage years with a determination that inspires all who know him. The disease requires ongoing treatments and medical care at Cook’s Children’s Hospital from their multidisciplinary team including endocrinology, immunology, gastroenterology, and rheumatology specialists, placing a significant financial burden on Sean and his family. Sean is more than his diagnosis. He is a son, a student, and a friend. Let’s rally together to show Sean he is not alone in this fight!

2024 | Megan
The Johnsons were born and raised in West Texas. True to their roots, they made the decision to return to Midland after completing their education to nurture their two sons, Jordan and Kobe. Here, they have been instrumental in shaping the young minds of our community, instilling values and knowledge through their roles as teachers and coaches. In April, Megan Johnson was diagnosed with a rare non-small cell lung cancer called ROS-1. Megan’s treatment involves her and her husband, Ray, traveling to Houston for treatment at MD Anderson every three months. She will continue this indefinitely or until another treatment option becomes available.

2023 | Jacob
The new year brought the Ringerbach family new challenges. At just 5 years old, Jacob has undergone 3 brain surgeries, 6 weeks of chemo and radiation, and has begun an additional 40 weeks of chemo. Unfortunately this is only the beginning of a lifetime battle. Jacob will continue to meet with his doctor to decide further treatment. To help cover some expenses, CGH Charity Foundation has chosen Jake for this year’s Golf for a Cause recipient. **August Update** CGH Charity has been notified of Jacob’s passing. We are still moving forward with the event to help raise funds and proceed for the family to help with any remaining expenses or financial needs. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

2019 | Baylor
Baylor Walden was a senior at Greenwood High School and aspired to join the United States Army after graduation. When he was well, Baylor enjoyed fishing, bow fishing, hunting, hanging out with friends, and playing with his bulldog. He was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia on September 27th, 2018. After being diagnosed, he was transported to Lubbock to start treatment, then later, was flown to Houston to continue treatments at MD Anderson. After many weeks in the hospital, Baylor and his family were finally able to come home in November 2018. The Walden’s have found a great support system within their Greenwood community.

2018 | Misti
Misti was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma Lung Cancer in January 2018. With this diagnosis came new trials the family would have to face in the coming years. Along with taking care of her daughter and serving her community as a Permian High School Police Officer, Misti was having to travel back and forth to Houston’s MD Medical Center in her new battle with cancer.

2017 | Inola
Inola Neal was diagnosed in mid May of 2016 with stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. The first 4 weeks were spent at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, TX followed by 7.5 weeks in Tulsa, OK at the Cancer Treatment of America. Inola started bi-weekly chemo treatments in Tulsa before switching to Phoenix Arizona Cancer Treatment Center in early 2017. She married her high school sweetheart, B.J. Neal, and has been married 39 years. They have two children, Marques and Marva Denay and six wonderful grandchildren. Inola and her family face many challenges with this illness and will continue her courageous fight. They are trusting in their Lord and Savior to carry them through this journey.

2016 | Allyson
Allyson was 6 years old, and on February 2nd of 2016 her family discovered a benign tumor on the frontal right lobe of her brain that was causing several issues for her. The Bose family had spent a lot of time at neurological, surgical, and psychological appointments and testing in Lubbock and Fort Worth. In less than 3 months Allyson had endured 3 MRI’s, sedation, and several days and weeks of EEG testing. As you might assume, even with insurance, the medical bills kept rolling in. Finally, the last MRI had given a bit of hope, as it appeared the tumor had stopped growing or at least slowed down significantly, and with such great news the Bose family had so much to be thankful for. They still have a long journey ahead of them as Allyson will continue to receive annual MRI checkups to monitor the tumor over time, but we remain hopeful and faithful that she will continue to be a strong, intelligent, active little girl.
